Many healing traditions, including aromatherapy, herbalism, homeopathy, and Chinese medicine, use flower essences for healing. Ancient traditions like these take into account both the physical and psychological condition of the “patient” and work to integrate and heal the “whole” person — physically, mentally, and spiritually. Just as the body has a wisdom of healing itself, each flower essence contains a healing energy, as expressed by color and the energies that correspond to the human energy centers, known as chakras.

In her book, The Healing Power of Flowers, health practitioner Rhonda PallasDowney beautifully pairs traditional flower essence healing with the relationship to the chakras, which are also known as the energy centers of the body. As students of the healing arts will attest, each of the seven chakras has a color associated with it. PallasDowney uses the colors of the flower essences to connect them to each chakra center.

The Healing Power of Flowers offers a hands on approach to aid in the treatment of physical, psychological, and spiritual ailments and includes:
-Charts to easily explain the healing properties of plants
-Extensive, in-depth botanical description that include the
flower’s color, texture, essence, and growing patterns
-Detailed guidelines for preparing and administering
                “whole plant” flower essences
-Integration of the four elements, the five senses, and the
eight principle patterns of Chinese herbal medicine
-Information on each plant’s ‘doctrine of signatures’,
or how to ‘read’ a plant to discover its usefulness for
                symptoms and patterns of imbalance

Voices of Flowers, is an inspirational flower card deck and book, which is reaching a wide audience as a creative guidebook that helps the reader form a relationship with the inner wisdom of the Plant Kingdom by connecting with the flowers.

The Voices of Flowers contains a deck of 48 cards and teaches its readers to:
-Discern their own needs for healing, based on the chakra energy system
-Immediately begin working with the flower cards to learn the characteristic
essence of each of the 48 flowers to bring wellness into their lives
-Continue learning through both theory and practice by reading the book and
engaging in daily practices that reveal evermore about an essence and its
               curative powers.
